New Years DUI Arrests

Tampa DUI Attorney, Lawyer W.F. ''Casey'' Ebsary, Jr. notes that law enforcement was busy on New Year's Eve. Over 40 people were arrested for drunk driving in the Tampa Bay Area including Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco counties in the first hours of the New Year.

Tampa DUI Videos - Hillsborough County Sheriff Shuts Down Cameras



Video cameras in the Hillsborough County Jail have been shut down. The videos from the jail have been used to dismiss DUI charges and to file civil rights lawsuits charging excessive use of force. The solution to cover up the abuses at the jail - Sheriff David Gee shut off the cameras. We previously reported on the use of these Tampa Hillsborough DUI Videos here.

Polk DUI Saturation Patrols

Polk County DUI Unit will be out in force for the holidays. According to a press release, "Polk County Sheriff's Traffic deputies will be conducting DUI saturation patrols countywide in order to detect, stop, and arrest impaired drivers, as part of the national "Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest." campaign. Members of the DUI Enforcement Unit will also be patrolling the roadways of Polk County in order to safeguard motorists from those who are driving impaired."

It appears the punishment for DUI offenders is the possibility of jail and huge fines. The punishment for the wayward deputy, according to published reports, "a letter of guidance for his job . . . go to a report-writing class, and his reports will be periodically reviewed for 90 days."
