License Suspensions - Tampa Bay
Florida Driver's License Suspensions can be triggered by a number of events:DUI;
Failing to Maintain Insurance;
Failing to pay child support;
Failing to pay a speeding ticket;
Accumulating too many points.
The DHSMV ( Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles ) controls formal suspensions. Suspensions are entered into the driving record computer system when a county realizes someone hasn't paid a fine or fulfilled a condition. A Notice to Suspend is sent. The DHSMV sends notice to the driver, giving them 20 days to pay or face suspension. If the driver satisfies the fine or condition in time, the license is not suspended.
