Sun Herald - 08/03/06: "New law: unlawful arrests OK in DUI cases
If you get arrested by police as a suspected drunk driver, they can suspend your license for six months -- even if the arrest was illegal. Sound Orwellian? Maybe, but beginning in October in Florida, that will be the law. 'Whether the arrest was lawful or unlawful no longer has to be considered in a license review under the new statute,' Venice defense attorney Robert Harrison said. 'In essence, the legislature has told police that they can violate somebody's constitutional rights (Fourth Amendment, search and seizure) and still take their license.'"
